The short version

1. Who we are

Classroom Showdown ("we," "us," "the Service") is a team review game for classrooms at classroomshowdown.com, operated by Leatherwood Enterprises of Tyler, Texas, United States. Contact: support@classroomshowdown.com.

2. What we keep about teachers

WhatWhyHow long
Google sign-in: your email address, name and profile picture addressTo sign you in and show who is signed inUntil you ask us to delete your account
The date you agreed to the termsTo know which terms you acceptedAs long as the account exists
Your games: names, questions, answers, categories, pictures, folders, share codes, and any team setup (class-list numbers and optional team names)That is the product: your libraryUntil you delete them or your account
Your plan: a Stripe customer id, and your subscription's status, monthly or yearly, price and renewal dateTo give Showdown Plus to paying teachers, and to email yearly subscribers before they renewAs long as the account exists; Stripe keeps its own payment records
Support messages: what you send through Help & Support or email to support@, our replies, and the account email they go toTo answer youUntil you ask us to delete them or your account
Rooms you host: teams, points, rounds and buzz timesTo run the live gameDeleted automatically about a day after the room closes

Pictures. A picture you add to a question is shown on every student device in your room, so it is stored at a long, unguessable web address that anyone holding the address can open. Pictures are resized and re-saved before upload. Do not put students' faces or other personal information in a picture.

3. What we keep about students

Very little, and nothing that identifies a student:

All of it belongs to the room and is deleted automatically about a day after the room closes.

The class list never leaves the teacher's computer. When a teacher loads a class list to sort teams, the names stay in that browser. The game only ever sends us numbers ("class-list number 7 is on team 2").

4. Children's privacy (COPPA) and student records (FERPA)

Students do not create accounts and we do not collect personal information from them, so COPPA's parental-consent requirements are not triggered by ordinary use. Because we hold no student names or records, we do not hold FERPA education records. Teachers and schools remain responsible for their own rules on classroom technology, and for keeping personal information out of questions and pictures.

5. Payments

Showdown Plus is paid through Stripe. Stripe collects your card and billing details on its own pages; we never see or store your card number. Stripe tells us your customer id and your subscription's status, interval and renewal date.

6. Who else handles data

ServiceWhat it doesWhat it receives
SupabaseDatabase, sign-in and picture storage (United States)Everything in sections 2 and 3
VercelHosts the websiteStandard web request data (IP address, browser) to serve pages
Google"Sign in with Google"Your sign-in; Google tells us your email, name and picture
StripePaymentsYour email and billing details for Showdown Plus
OpenAIChecks student-typed team names for inappropriate languageOnly the typed team name, nothing else
BrevoSends our email: support replies and billing noticesYour email address, your name and the message
AnthropicHelps sort and draft answers to support messagesThe text of a support message you send us (never anything about students)

We do not sell or rent data, and we do not use advertising or ad-tracking cookies.

7. What your browser keeps

Your sign-in session, your sort choice in My Games, and an unsaved draft of a game you are editing are kept in your own browser's storage so a reload doesn't lose your work. On a student's device the browser keeps the random device id and the room they are in. None of it is shared with anyone else.

8. Your choices

9. Security

Traffic is encrypted (HTTPS). Each teacher's games, folders and pictures are fenced off by database rules so only that teacher can change them, and student devices can reach only the room they joined.

10. Changes

When this policy changes we post the new version here with a new date. Material changes are shown to you the next time you open My Games.
