Terms of Service

Last updated: October 4, 2026 · These terms govern your use of the Classroom Showdown website, game and teacher library at classroomshowdown.com (the "Service"). The Service is operated by Leatherwood Enterprises of Tyler, Texas ("we," "us").

1. The agreement

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms of Service and to the Privacy Policy. If you use the Service on behalf of a school or district, you confirm you are authorized to accept these terms for that organization. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service

Classroom Showdown is a team review game. A teacher builds games of questions, opens a room, and students join on their own devices with a room code to buzz in as teams. Students never need an account or a payment.

Accounts are for teachers. Only a teacher or another adult educator may create or hold an account. Students must not create an account or sign in, and no one may create an account for a student. Students take part only by joining a room with a code at classroomshowdown.com/join, which needs no account. If we find that an account belongs to a student, we delete it and everything attached to it, without notice.

3. Plans, payment and cancellation

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Suspension: we may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, immediately for serious abuse. Where reasonable we will warn you first. Refunds for the current period are at our discretion except where the law requires them.

5. Your content

You keep all rights to the games, questions, answers and pictures you create. You give us the limited license needed to run the Service: to store them, show them in your library, and show the questions and pictures on your screen and your students' devices while you host. Pictures you add are shown on every student device in your room, so they are stored at long, unguessable web addresses that anyone holding the address can open. Do not put private or personal information in a picture.

If you share a game by code, every teacher who adds it gets their own copy of its questions, answers, categories and pictures. Turning sharing off stops new copies; it does not remove copies already made.

Team names that students type are checked by an automated filter before they appear. No filter is perfect, and the teacher can always rename a team.

6. Third-party services

The Service relies on Supabase (database, sign-in and picture storage), Vercel (website hosting), Stripe (payments), Google (sign-in), OpenAI (team-name moderation), Brevo (email) and Anthropic (help with support messages). Their availability and terms are outside our control. The Privacy Policy lists what each one receives.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not guarantee uptime, that every buzz arrives in a particular order over a school network, or that the Service is free of errors. Keep your own copy of anything important (each game downloads as a CSV from My Games).

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law: (a) we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill; and (b) our total liability for all claims arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months before the claim arose, or $50, whichever is greater. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

9. Indemnity

You will indemnify and hold us harmless from claims arising out of your violation of these terms or your misuse of the Service, including pictures or questions you upload, except to the extent caused by our own breach of this agreement.

10. Changes

We may improve, change or discontinue features. We may update these terms; material changes are posted on this page with a new date, and you will be asked to agree to them the next time you open My Games. If you do not accept a change, cancel Showdown Plus and stop using the Service.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Subject to Section 12, any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Texas, and you consent to their jurisdiction. Nothing in this section limits mandatory consumer protections of your place of residence.

12. Arbitration

Informal resolution first: before starting any formal proceeding, contact us at support@classroomshowdown.com and give us 30 days to work it out.

If we cannot resolve a dispute informally, you and we agree that any dispute, claim or controversy arising out of or relating to these terms or the Service will be resolved by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court, except that either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court. The Federal Arbitration Act governs this section. The arbitration will be conducted by a single arbitrator, in English, in the county where you live or by videoconference, as the AAA rules provide.

Individual basis: disputes will be arbitrated only on an individual basis. You and we each waive the right to a trial by jury and to take part in a class action or class-wide arbitration. If the class-action waiver is found unenforceable as to a particular claim, that claim (and only that claim) must proceed in court.

Opt-out: you may opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing support@classroomshowdown.com within 30 days of first accepting these terms, stating your account email and that you opt out of arbitration. Opting out does not affect any other part of these terms.

13. Miscellaneous

These terms plus the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign this agreement without our consent; we may assign it in connection with a sale or reorganization of the Service.
